Worship Hit ‘Heart of the Father’ Displays Character of God
Ryan Ellis has written songs for such well-known artists as Matt Redman, Natalie Grant and Chris Tomlin (he wrote Tomlin’s popular “Resurrection Power”), but the songwriter and former Upper Room worship pastor is now a signed artist himself. In his debut single, “Heart of the Father,” now standing at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top 50 Christian Songs, Ellis expresses his insights into the character of God.
“This song was written in a season where I was really discovering the grace of God and His kindness, patience and mercy,” Ellis says.
“I was a worship pastor living in a city called Isla Vista, California,” he adds. “The goal behind our ministry was to show the people in the party city that it doesn’t matter where you are or what stage of life you’re in—there’s always going to be the grace and love of God waiting for you. He always accepts us exactly where we’re at, and walks alongside us. I feel like this song shows what it is to be a believer and how we’re called to walk and love people. I hope this song blesses you.”
“I’ve never known a love like Yours/ So intimate so powerful/ And I’ve tasted I’ve seen/ And nothing comes close/ I’ve never known a love like Yours. … Let Your praise ring louder/ Every day and every hour/ ‘Cause Your Spirit guides me/ To the heart of the Father,” he sings.
