Remembering the Legacy of MLK Through a Child’s Eyes

What do Martin Luther King Jr. and Kid President have in common?

They both understood what the apostle Paul meant when he taught that love “endures all things” (1 Cor. 13:7b).

Both started out with a dream.

Both changed their world for good.

Both sought to bring awareness, recognition and honor to Black life.

MLK and YouTube sensation Robby Novak, also known as Kid President, sought the same dream 50 years apart.

During Black History Month, MLK’s story of faith, bringing light to the darkness and advocating for those who need help most is as timely as ever. And his impact on the civil rights movement seems to hold even more weight when told through the innocent (yet precocious) view of a child.

As Kid President says, “He wanted to change things. So he did stuff. He decided instead of spreading hate, he would spread the love.”

And even when things were dark, “Love just does that: It keeps going.”

Let Kid President’s—and MLK’s—message allow you to remember: “Isn’t it cool that we can change things?”
