Harry Jackson: This Prophetic Perspective Will Release God’s Healing, Blessings on America

Recently, my good friend Harry R. Jackson Jr. interviewed me on his show, Rise Up America, where we spoke about the importance of having a prophetic perspective of our nation.

Jackson pastors Hope Christian Church, a Pentecostal congregation in Beltsville, Maryland. He also serves as presiding bishop of the International Communion of Evangelical Churches. Not only is Jackson a strong voice for biblical values in the social sphere, but he’s also passionate about racial reconciliation—to the point of co-founding The Reconciled Church Initiative. And he’s not afraid to speak the truth about hard topics like abortion and same-sex marriage.

On his show, he shared about how we need to look at the nation’s issues from a prophetic perspective. He believes God is speaking to America and wants to promote an agenda. It’s not a black or white agenda, nor is it a Republican or Democratic agenda. Instead, it’s God’s own understanding of righteousness and justice. The question is, will His people listen?

Charles Flowers—senior pastor of Faith Outreach Center International in San Antonio, Texas—also shared his thoughts in the interview. He pointed out that a herd mentality afflicts many in America. For instance, he said, many in the black community have a mentality that if you are socially conservative, and therefore support conservative candidates, you are betraying your ethnic identity.

“You know the series ‘Am I still black if …?’ that kind of defines if you meet what the normative thought is around black people?” Flowers says. “So am I still black if I watch Fox News? Am I still black if I don’t immortalize slavery and the atrocities associated with it?”

That herd mentality, Jackson says, easily leads the American people to bad choices.

“The answer is the Word of God applied to our lives and having Almighty God come and bless America,” Jackson says. “But I believe the renewing of our mind according to the Word of God will release a prophetic perspective that will cause us to be blessed and not cursed.”

Jackson ended the interview by saying we can’t blindly follow either political party. Instead, we need to be biblically informed and heed what God is trying to do in America.

I couldn’t agree more. In fact, that’s why I wrote my newest book, Trump Aftershock. In that book, I share the story of God’s hand on our president that the media doesn’t want to tell. Though news outlets love to blast headlines about Donald Trump’s latest flaw or mistake, Trump Aftershock offers a Christian journalistic perspective of how God has used Trump to bless our nation.

I think you’ll enjoy the book, which releases Nov. 6. Order it now on trumpaftershock.com to get a bundle of free items, including two e-books and a 12-month subscription to Charisma!

Listen to my podcast below to hear more about how to view racial issues in our nation from a prophetic perspective.
