Church of God’s ‘Prayer at the Heart of America’ Live Event Calls for Revival, Restoration in US
A national call to prayer is taking place today, 1-7 p.m. Eastern Time, that will bring believers from across the nation together to intercede for the U.S., broadcast live at prayerattheheart.com from the geographic center of the nation’s 48 contiguous states in Lebanon, Kansas.
“For me to stand here and say that we need to pray for our beloved country of America is an understatement,” Dr. Tim Hill, general overseer of the Church of God, says in a video introducing the event. Doug Small, the denomination’s international director for prayer ministries and president of Project Pray, and a host of intercessors will gather live and online to pray for revival and awakening. Some will come through prayer rides, with routes from eight different sites intersecting at the Lebanon location, and a motorcycle caravan from across the U.S. will also join the prayer rally.
“Prayer at the Heart is a call to the family of faith, and the invitation is extended to everyone who believes that God is able to heal our land and that He is our hope for revival and restoration,” the event website says, continuing:
“Without question, our nation has turned its back on its Judeo-Christian heritage and foundation. The truth of God’s Word is being ignored and rejected. Our sin has increased, and the moral fiber of our nation has been defiled.
“Biblically and historically, we discover that we must turn our face and faith toward God as a nation. The call is for the people of God who are called by His name, humble ourselves and pray. Seek His face and turn from our wicked ways with the promise that He will hear our prayers, forgive our sins and heal our land.”
Small shared his longtime vision for the prayer gathering in an interview with CBN News. “An intercessor said, ‘I saw a black X across the nation. And I asked the Lord, “Are you finished?” and the Lord said, “That’s gunpowder. I’m laying gunpowder across the nation. And then a spark hit the center and then the U.S. looked like the Bonanza map,'”‘” Small explained.
Small is asking God to spread that spark via today’s event and those that will follow. “The mission is to start public prayer meetings,” he said. “What we’re doing here, we hope will happen all across the nation. There will be a map of the U.S. drawn on the ground so you can symbolically prayer walk the U.S.”
“I hope that between January and July 2022 that this will happen in every state, at the center of every state,” he added. “And then every county and every city until we have a wild, wonderfully crazy movement of prayer and repentance. Our only hope, our only hope is a great awakening.”
