Andrew Brunson: I Survived Prison by Spending Hours in Prayer
His hand on President Donald Trump’s shoulder, Andrew Brunson cried out for the Spirit of the Lord to be poured out. Just 24 hours before, Brunson was on trial in Turkey for terrorism charges.
He’d spent the last two years under arrest—first in prison and then under house arrest.
The missionary says in the 23 years before that, he and his wife, Norine, boldly proclaimed the gospel. And when officials took him into custody, his faith sustained him. First they placed him in solitary confinement for days on end, and then into a cell built for eight that held 20.
All of the other prisoners were Muslim terrorists, Brunson says, which isolated him further.
“At this point, I’m probably one of the most hated men in Turkey, probably,” Brunson says.
As for the millions of people around the world who lifted Brunson up, “I think God is using this to bring blessing to Turkey” through the prayers.
