Bible-Based, Transformational Event Could Completely Alter Our Spiritual Climate
Editor’s Note: Friday is the annual March for Life. As we cry out for the end of abortion, prayerfully consider how the Lord can use your testimony to bring healing, restoration and justice for families devastated by the death of an unborn child.
The annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. represents a movement. A national movement that seeks to confirm the fact that every individual, born or unborn, has indescribable value that cannot and will not be duplicated.
As Christians, we affirm that the unalienable right to life embedded in the foundation of this nation and given by God extends to the unborn. Mankind is meant to individually proclaim the image of God through their unique creation.
The act of abortion destroys God’s most direct avenue for revealing His character to us. We look no further than Genesis 1 for evidence that God intended each one of us to be his image bearers.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them (Gen. 1:26-27).
This simple message is what gives profound importance to me personally as I travel to Washington for the March for Life in 2018.
In the decades since the detestable decision of Roe v. Wade, more than 60 million abortions have taken place in the United States; let that sink in. In our nation, innocent lives are continually being terminated, dwarfing the most appalling genocides in human history.
This overwhelming reality defies rational comprehension and must serve to sustain the fire of the pro-life movement in America. We cannot stand idly by while allowing our nation to choose the wrong side of history. The March for Life serves as a bold statement to our nation and the world that legalized abortion will not remain the status quo.
It is a privilege to be able to represent Colorado Christian University, the Centennial Institute, and our campus’ Students for Life chapter. It is truly unique to be a part of these institutions that seek to advocate for the sanctity of life so passionately.
I firmly believe that students such as ours are being equipped to fight for life like never before in a society so diametrically opposed to the sanctity of life and the rights of the unborn. America is truly in need of a cultural transformation that redirects the moral compass of society when considering the value of each life. My hope is that the March for Life and the associated events during the weekend will serve to bolster our ability as students to become more effective pro-life advocates and to begin to transform our culture. {eoa}
