Cindy Jacobs Urges Fervent Intercession for Peter Wagner

C. Peter Wagner is having two surgeries today—and his spiritual daughter Cindy Jacobs is urging fervent intercession for the 85-year-old apostolic pioneer.

“I just got off the phone with Peter Wagner and family. He is going to have two surgical procedures today,” Cindy Jacobs, co-founder of Generals International, told us. “The first is to drain his abdominal cavity of excess fluid. This is taking place this morning. They will use a sonogram to find the fluid and insert a needle attached to a tube and drain it. Secondly, he will have major surgery this afternoon around 3:00 p.m., Texas time. This surgery is to repair the lungs and pour talcum powder into the lungs which repairs the leaky lungs.”

Cindy offers three prayer points:

1.  His heart—he has congestive heart failure in one part of his heart.

2.  Pray that the procedure will work and the lungs will be repaired so they can expand correctly again.

3.  Pray that he will come out of the anesthesia without complications.

“I listened on the call as the doctor came in and explained about the surgery and the first 72 hours after. She said to expect congestion and trouble breathing and said that is normal. This, of course, is troubling! Let’s ask God for a miraculous recovery!” Cindy says.

“I prayed with Peter that he would be like Caleb and in his 85th year be as strong as he was in his 40s! There are several people flying in, such as Becca and Greg Greenwood and Fernando Gillian. Mike and I were going to San Antonio today to settle the family affairs after my step-father’s death, but we will wait until tomorrow now. I am going over to Plano to the hospital to be with the family for prayer support.”

Wagner is recognized as a leading authority in the fields of church growth and spiritual warfare. He is co-founder of World Prayer Center and is chancellor of the Wagner Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He holds graduate degrees in theology, missiology and religion from Fuller Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary and the University of Southern California.

Wagner served as a field missionary in Bolivia for 16 years, and he taught on the faculty of the School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Seminary for 30 years. The author of 70 books, Wagner ministers extensively nationally and internationally from his home base in Colorado. Wagner and his wife live in Colorado Springs.
