What if a Palestinian Policeman Killed an Israeli?

Share:

The big news in Israel this past week, the news that is on our talk shows and on the front page of every newspaper and website is this: Two knife-wielding Palestinians attacked and stabbed a soldier. One was killed by other soldiers and the other was wounded.

Another soldier, moments later, shot the wounded (and probably dying) Palestinian terrorist.

This Israeli soldier has been arrested and he will stand trial.

Obviously, if the soldier did not feel that he and others around him were at risk, he should go to jail. He claims that he thought the wounded terrorist had a suicide belt. It is not my point to defend or condemn him. That is for a court of law.

My point is simple. I want you to read some of the statements from our leaders and then ask yourself, what if the roles were reversed and a Palestinian policeman killed a Jew? First read the statements.

“What happened in Hebron doesn’t represent the values of the IDF. The IDF expects its soldiers to behave level-headedly and in accordance with the rules of engagement.” – Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

“The soldier who shot the terrorist has been arrested. We will have to check how this happened and we will investigate. The chief of staff views the incident with severity and has ordered a full probe,” he added. “This is not the IDF, these are not the values of the IDF and these are not the values of the Jewish people.” – IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Moti Almoz

The case would be handled “with all due severity,” saying the soldier’s apparent actions were “in utter breach of IDF values and of our code of ethics in combat. Even when the blood boils, we must not allow such loss of reason and such loss of control.” – Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon

“Morality is the source of the army’s strength, and forsaking it even slightly due to the challenges raised by terrorism would hurt national security. The murderous loathsomeness of the terrorists is no reason for the IDF to lose its morals.” He commended “the army’s swift action in opening an investigation and clarifying that the act was against its values.” – MK Ofer Shelah

(The above quotes are taken from a TimesofIsrael.com article.)

We are not a country of savages, though we are surround by depraved leaders who send their children out with knives to kill, maim and terrorize us. We do not tolerate such things in the Israeli Defense Forces.

However, if a Palestinian policeman shot a wounded Jewish “terrorist,” do you think he would be arrested? Put on trial? Condemned? If they name streets and squares after suicide bombers and hand out candy on the streets when Israelis are murdered, it is far more likely that if the tables were turned, he would be a hailed as a hero.

That actually happened, or something close to it. Palestinian police officer Amjad Sukkari, 29, opened fire on Israeli soldiers, two months ago. The IDF soldiers returned fire and killed him. This is how it was reported in the Palestinian press:

The PA’s official news agency, Wafa, claimed: “Israeli occupation forces opened fire at the youth, Amjad Sukkari, at the Beit El checkpoint north of El-Bireh which resulted in his martyrdom.”

The agency made no reference of the fact that Sukkari was a police officer.

Nor did it mention the fact that he had opened fire at IDF soldiers, causing them to respond (jpost).

And then days later, in a statement it released following the attack, the Palestinian police announced that “with great pride, the members of the Palestinian police eulogize the brave martyrdom of their colleague, Master Sergeant Amjad Sukkari, “Abu Omar.” who committed the operation at V.I.P checkpoint in Beit El” (jpost).

The largest Palestinian newspaper, Al Quds, featured the heroic drawing of the terrorist police officer calling him a “martyr.”

Why is this important? Because the Palestinian propaganda machine, started by Yasser Arafat, has convinced the world that the Israelis are evil occupiers and the Palestinians are peaceful and oppressed. That characterization of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority has proven far from the truth in recent years.

Arafat died with a net worth of $1 billion. Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, is reported to be worth $100 million. Hamas kills their own people and uses them as human shields. For example, they murdered dozens of their own tunnel diggers out of fear they would tell the Israelis where the tunnels were.

This is one reason why level-headed people were shocked to hear would-be president Donald J. Trump say that he would remain neutral in any negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians—the very thing he has mocked President Obama and John Kerry doing with Iran. He rightly sees that Iran is a murderous dictatorship and they can’t be trusted.

There is no difference here with the Palestinian leadership. They have created a culture of death that results in teenage kids posting on Facebook, “Today I will become a Shaheed (Martyr)” and then going out and stabbing Israelis. {eoa}
