Pastor: Anti-Semitism Will Likely Create New Tidal Wave of Immigration

According to the “2019 Annual Assessment of the Situation and Dynamics of the Jewish People Today,” Israel should prepare for a potential mass wave of immigration to the country amid increased anti-Semitism.

The report, prepared by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) and presented by the Institute’s leaders to the Israeli Cabinet, warned of the spread of anti-Semitism around the world. The leaders said that if not enough is done to strengthen the security of the Jewish communities, they could experience “significant harm.”

The report warned the government that as anti-Semitic incidents proliferate, “the Israeli government must prepare appropriately for potential immigration, especially from European countries.” The report also rehashed earlier data that demonstrates that anti-Semitism is rising by every metric. The number of anti-Semitic incidents has risen around the world, including in the United States, where the FBI reported that Jews are the most targeted religion-based group by hate crimes.

The report cited above confirms what those of us who are paying attention already knew to be true. In many countries worldwide financial and political turmoil are the norm, and anti-Semitism is on the rise. Typically, Jewish people become the targets of hate crimes and the scapegoats for all of a nation’s ills.

Jewish people in these notoriously anti-Semitic countries can see the writing on the wall. From January through May of 2019, aliyah (emigration to Israel) is up 86% from Russia and 49% in all the former Soviet Union countries. What is fascinating is that many more Jewish families are home in Israel today, largely thanks to compassionate Christian donors from the United States and elsewhere.

Today, there are Christians who care and care deeply. Organizations like Ezra International have helped over 70,000 impoverished Jewish people get home to Israel, and they are working with the same number who currently desire to return. Yes, it is Christians who recognize the need for a new wave of immigration of the Jewish people. {eoa}

Rev. Gary Cristofaro is the director of development for Ezra International. He has been a passionate advocate for Israel and the Jewish people since the early ’90s. His mission is to communicate the importance of the prophetic return of the Jewish people back to Israel and challenging Christians to come to a better understanding of their Hebraic roots.
