Did This Prayer Movement Fulfill a Prophetic Word?
On Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal invited believers nationwide to a time of worship, prayer, fasting and repentance at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. As one who calls Louisiana home with my family, we would not miss The Response Louisiana.
Why did Governor Jindal call for this solemn assembly? He said, “America is in the midst of a historic crisis. We are besieged by financial debt, terrorism and a multitude of natural disasters. Our nation is faced with fatherless homes, an epidemic of drugs and crime in our inner cities, a saturation of pornography in our homes, abortion and racism.”
We all know he is right; yet how would people respond to his honest admission?
With doors set to open at 9 AM, we arrived at 8 AM. My heart was so encouraged as I watched the line build and flow down the ramp onto the LSU campus like a river: a river of hearts that desire truth, righteousness and justice. These were believers from all over Louisiana and other states stirred with the desire for Amos 5:24, “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”
Finally they opened the doors; it was as if floodgates burst forth. It was like this mighty rushing human river rolled right into the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, unified to make our appeal to heaven. I’ve never felt so much hope for our nation as I did standing in the midst of His people, answering the call with hearts so knitted together waiting on the, “Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing” (Joel 2:14).
As worship began, the response was immediate. The unity was electrifying and humbling. There was no “warming up” to raise our voices or entering into God’s presence. As a proud Papa waits for His children, He also responded immediately.
The call to prayer and repentance began, leading us into some of the national issues that need the mercy of our God. One being, the most important from my standpoint, the issue of life—for God hates the shedding of innocent blood. As we know, the blood of more than 57 million innocent babies cries out day and night for justice; the sound in their Father’s ears is surely heart-wrenching. How long will He wait to bring that justice forth?
At the start of the Justice section of our prayer time, an interesting fact stood out to me. It was as if the Holy Spirit took my ears in His hands and pulled them outward (like you’d see on a cartoon) to listen up. The speaker began to share about the Mississippi River and how it flows from this small lake named Lake Itasca.
My ears perked up because the Lord has been speaking to some of us in the pro-life movement through words and dreams about the Mississippi River, how the Lord will begin to do a “cleansing of the river that healing might roll down.” Lake Itasca means “Head of Truth” and is located in Clearwater County.
The 5th Circuit Court and other Circuit Courts in different states, which have been hearing some of the most historic pro-life cases, are located on or near the Mississippi River. It was like a kiss from heaven on my heart, releasing confidence and hope that His truth will come forth.
This was not the first time such a specific prophetic word came forth about Louisiana. I recalled a word given by Cindy Jacobs in 1998 which had to do with our state. She heard from God in her time of prayer: “I am going to cause the eyes of the United States to be focused on this geographic region. People will be startled and amazed and even say, Surely God is there; we must go see. Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord.“
The word continued, “I am going to establish the anointing of the Lawgiver, and it’s going to come through Louisiana as a state. There’s going to be statewide measures that are going to cast down abortion. I’m going to do a great work in that state, a landmark work that will be precedent-setting.”
I see this happening today. I witnessed at The Response: Louisiana hearts of fathers, mothers and children unified in prayer—crying out for forgiveness and mercy on our land. We will respond, it is our only hope. Join in this response and make your appeal to heaven. Our nation is in need.
