U.S. Serviceman Who Refuses to Take COVID Shots ‘Held Hostage’ in Korea
“Help! Held from family for 16 months” read the subject line of an email that arrived this week. The email is from an armed forces member whose tour of duty in Korea was to be one year, unaccompanied, and was supposed to be completed months ago.
But because Sheldon (*name changed for privacy) is a Christian who refuses to take the COVID shots, he is held hostage by the Army, separated from his wife and child for 16 months with no end in sight.
Sheldon fully expected that the Army he loves would honor its own regulations and his lawful rights. In September, he filed a religious accommodation request (RAR).
Like every other member of the Army, Sheldon is being held in limbo and frozen in time. The Army will not process the RARs. Instead, it is effectively holding hostage every military member who files an RAR, whether the member is in the states or in a foreign country. The Army hopes the pressure of being separated from family with their careers frozen will force the faithful to bow the knee to Joe Biden.
“I’m being held hostage here, separated from my family, including my 9-month-old daughter who barely knows me because of my pending exemption request,” Sheldon wrote (emphasis added). “I’ve already missed so much precious time with her.”
Sheldon was supposed to end his Korean tour of duty December 16, 2021. Instead, he is stranded 7,000 miles from home. Despite the fact that his tour of duty was up last year, the Army won’t let him leave Korea. The emotional impact of the separation, as well as the constant pressure to take the jab, is hard on Sheldon and his family.
“My wife’s mental health is deteriorating, and I am struggling to cope with this situation,” wrote Sheldon, repeating the sentiments we have heard from so many unlawfully abused by the Biden administration’s outrageous actions.
“My wife deserves to have me home, and my daughter deserves her father,” wrote Sheldon in his plea for help. “My command says their hands are tied, despite me telling them my wife has mentioned harming herself from all of the stress this has caused us.”
Sheldon’s job in Korea deals with mission-critical defense systems. But the stress born of Biden’s unlawful orders and the Army’s continued harassment of soldiers has created a dangerous situation, so much so that Sheldon says, “I can barely focus at work.”
“I need to get home to my family,” he writes. “The stress of not being there for them for so long, and not getting to be with my daughter during her first year, is almost unbearable. The religious discrimination and hardship this has placed on my family is unreal.”
Sheldon ended his desperate plea with these words: “Please, anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated. God bless.”
Sheldon and his fellow armed forces members need your help. Liberty Counsel represents every branch of the military in our landmark class-action lawsuit. We are now working with over 1,000 service members, and that number grows each week. This is in addition to our assistance and representation of federal employees, federal civilian contractors, health care workers and others who have been unlawfully mandated to get the COVID shots or face punishment. And this is in addition to our many other cases.
Yesterday, we returned to court on behalf of an Air Force Cadet who received the top Cadet recognition in his class. We are representing the best of the best. The hearing went very well. I again urged Judge Merryday to certify the class and grant class-wide relief for service members in all six branches. Please pray hard! {eoa}
