OM Plants New Church in Kosovo
After weeks of prayers and preparations, Operation Mobilization Kosovo’s Peja team celebrated the dedication of their new church plant during a special service in February. Nineteen believers attended the service, a mix of OMers, national pastors and believers from Peja and nearby Deçan.
Pastor Driton Krasniqi, the director of KPEC (Kosova Protestant Evangelical Churches) performed the dedication and Pastor of Bashkësia e Popullit të Zotit in Pristina, Artur Krasniqi, shared the main message.
The church’s heart is to reach seekers and new believers in the Peja area. The Peja team has been supporting a Saturday church in Deçan for the past few years, and last year took over as a leadership team. The Deçan church will continue, with Kosovo’s newest church plant providing Sunday services.
The new church is close to the home of the Peja team’s leaders, Einar and Klara. This proximity in the community will ensure good prospects for building on the friendships and relationships already established, and provide opportunities to invite individuals to services and events at the church.
An OM team member, who helped to prepare the church building, said, “I never thought as a missionary I’d be laying a carpet!” But everyone did their part to help make the dedication day possible.
On its opening at the end of March, a fellow team member preached for his first time to those gathered. Since the church plant opened, several individuals have attended. One whole family attended, and an hour after their sick baby had been prayed for at one of the services, the team received word that the baby was healed. The message of salvation is a primary focus, and one girl who attended returned with two friends.
Praise God for making this church plant dedication a reality. Please remember this church in your prayers, as it grows and establishes itself. Pray for the OMers as they share their lives and witness in the community. To see more of what God is doing through OM Kosovo, click here.
