How to Evangelize More People Than Billy Graham
How can you reach more unsaved people with the gospel in a single day than Billy Graham did his entire life?
Mobilize every Christian to share the gospel with just one person.
It sounds too simple to be true, but it’s not—at least, not to Werner Nachtigal and Stephan Gaengel. The two men are co-founders of Global Outreach Day (GOD), an annual campaign to induce Christians worldwide to share the gospel with at least one person on the last Saturday of May.
Though Christians across the world are encouraged to participate, GOD focuses on a specific country each year for evangelism training and sharing the gospel. This year, it’s the U.S.
Cru, Youth With A Mission, Every Home for Christ and several other Christian evangelism organizations are partnering with GOD for the kickoff day, May 21.
On May 28, after Nick Vujicic speaks to the crowd, “we will send out, hopefully, 1 million Christians all over the United States to reach at least one person,” Nachtigal says.
When Nachtigal says “we,” he’s not just referring to Gaengel and himself. Reputable leaders in the body of Christ are encouraging believers to join GOD this year. GOD supporters include Mike Bickle, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Father Zacharias, Steve Douglass, Reinhard Bonnke, Larry Stockstill and more.
“We need to start reaching out to all types of people and sharing our faith with them … ,” T.D. Jakes says. “I mean in the mall, in the grocery store (and so on). It’s time for you to be a real Christian and win people to Jesus Christ.”
This year, though, there’s a new twist to the typical day of training and street evangelism.
On May 27, GOD is teaming up with IHOP to host the “Upper Room,” which will be live on GOD TV. Christians around the world, starting with Samoa and New Zealand, will pray for their communities, their nations and the Muslim world. Nachtigal says it’s a simple prayer: “Lord Jesus, use me.”
This willingness—revealed in intercession and active evangelism—gives GOD the potential to reach innumerable unsaved people with Jesus’ free gift of salvation.
“But the Global Outreach Day is not about some big numbers for us,” Nachtigal says. “The Global Outreach Day is one, every believer, everyone.”
