Why the ‘Cancel Culture’ Just Came After Tim Tebow
It was German theologian Martin Niemöller who, speaking prophetically of the rise of Nazism in Germany, said:
“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist, then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a trade unionist, then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew, then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.”
They just came after godly missionary kid from the Philippines and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, who is currently with the New York Mets system and proudly shares his faith at every opportunity. The reason for the attack? Tebow shared a tweet about the Bible’s power to affect our daily lives.
The tweet that was taken down by Twitter included a video clip in which Tebow said, “Bible believers, when we look at the Bible, and we see a lot of the heroes, a lot of times they truly were wounded deeply before they were ever used greatly. So maybe you’re going through a time in your life where you feel like you’ve just been wounded greatly. And it hasn’t been your year, hasn’t been your day—you just don’t feel like this is your time,” Tebow said in the clip.”But this could be your time. This could be your time for learning, this could be your time for adapting,” he says.
This could be your time. That breakthrough could be tomorrow, or it could be next year. But, you have the opportunity to turn however you’re being tested into a testimony. So many heroes were wounded deeply before they were used greatly! pic.twitter.com/ldTu5acIDO

.
“You never know what God is doing with your life. You never know what he is preparing you for. So many times in the Bible when we look at the heroes, there were times in their life where—if they stopped, if they quit, if they said, ‘No, God, I’ve had enough’—then they would have missed out on the most impactful, most influential times of their life,” Tebow says.
When The Blaze contacted Twitter about the flagging of the innocuous tweet, which was simply sharing thoughts on living a godly life, the social media giant responded with, “The Tweet … was flagged as potentially sensitive media in error. It has been corrected.” Yes, the tweet was restored, albeit only because there was a massive pushback by believers offended at the nonstop assault on their faith.
The “cancel culture” succeeds for the simple reason that they can get away with it, and the takedown of someone as well known as Tim Tebow reveals the hidden, massive assault on people of faith whose daily conversations, affirmations of faith and basic communication are monitored by those for whom godlessness is a virtue, freedom is the enemy and America is to be hated.
Stephen Strang, founder and CEO of Charisma Media and author of God, Trump and Covid 19 and three other books supporting the president, said, “I love America, and I want God’s blessing for all Americans. I am passionate about seeing America pivot and return to more traditional values based on the Bible. … I believe Donald Trump must be reelected and what’s in jeopardy if he loses.”
If the cancel culture is able to come this aggressively and shamelessly after a simple conversation of faith posted by someone as well known as Tebow, when an administration is in power that is doing all it can to support men and women of faith—from demanding the opening of churches to moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem to removing the Johnson Amendment, to the appointment of two Supreme Court Justices, 200 judges and more—the same people who, seeking to take power in just 85 days, force us to realize Niemöller’s words are as critical today as they were over 70 years ago.
Now, they have come after all of us. {eoa}
