Why 1 Million Women Across America Are Gathering to Pray This Valentine’s Day Weekend

Last month, hundreds of thousands joined the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. Each year, women gather to protest abuse, misogyny and violence against women.

Diane Strack knows these are real and painful issues that need to be dealt with, but she doesn’t want to participate in angry marches. Instead, she’s responding to God’s call to gather His women across the United States for one goal: to pray.

Through She Loves Out Loud, Strack is calling thousands of women to join in prayer for the brokenness in our nation, and it’s happening Saturday, Feb. 15.

Strack explains on the Charisma News podcast how the She Loves Out Loud movement came from an encouragement from the late Vonette Bright, wife of Cru founder Bill Bright. Later on, the Lord reinforced Bright’s words with a word of His own.

“One day, I was watching the angry women’s movement, and my heart was broken,” Strack says. “As I looked at the anger, the Lord said to me, ‘Diane, don’t let that be the last word. Don’t let women think they have to stay in anger and bitterness and pain. They’ve got to know that there’s a Father who loves them unconditionally. They’ve got to know there’s a Savior who makes all things new. And they need to know there’s a Spirit who gives comfort and heals and brings joy to the mouth.’ So I continue to pray.”

After receiving that word a year ago, Strack called together three of her friends and asked them to pray with her. They met in Washington, D.C. around a conference table at the Museum of the Bible and began to seek the heart of God together.

God began to speak to each of their hearts, Strack says. And from there, the idea came forth to call women to join in prayer. The event will take place in Memphis, Tennessee, and highlight a number of different messages and speakers as well as a time dedicated to prayer. Churches can register to host a live stream of the event at shelovesoutloud.org.

“It’s 40 diverse churches that have come together … to stand and give a message of peace and healing and what genuine friendship looks like,” Strack says. “So we have so many wonderful themes for women and in between each true story of restoration and hope, we will have prayer time so that in your group at your church or wherever you are, [you can pray.]”
