Victor Styrsky to Discuss Christian Zionism at CUFI Event
Pastor Victor Styrsky, Christians United for Israel’s (CUFI) eastern regional coordinator, is speaking at an event dedicated to helping the Jewish community understand Christian Zionism on Jan. 23 at 7:30 pm at the Congregation Agudath Sholom.
In his remarks, Styrsky will explain the phenomenon of evangelical Christian support for Israel, and discuss what CUFI hopes to achieve through its advocacy.
“For 2,000 years Christians persecuted our Jewish brothers and sisters and engaged in all manner of atrocity against God’s chosen people,” says Styrsky. “That history can never be forgotten, but today Jews and Christians must come together to combat anti-Semitism and stand should-to-shoulder in support of the democratically elected government of Israel.”
Styrsky, author of the book Honest to God: Christian Zionists Confront 10 Questions Jews Need Answered, has served as a pastor, music director and pro-Israel activist in Northern California for more than 25 years.
“We are deeply grateful to CUFI for their enduring support for Israel. We are honored to host pastor Styrsky whose words in print and in person reflect the urgency of standing together. I encourage people of all faiths to join us next Monday evening for an inspiring and stimulating evening of solidarity,” says Rabbi Daniel Cohen of Congregation Agudath Sholom.
This event will also serve as a precursor to a Night to Honor Israel scheduled for March. Described as “an evening of solidarity and celebration with the Connecticut Christian and Jewish communities,” the Night to Honor Israel will feature Archbishop LeRoy Bailey Jr., senior pastor at The First Cathedral in Bloomfield; pastor John Hagee, founder and Chairman of CUFI; Sen. Joseph Lieberman; and recording artist JJ Hairston.
