Trump’s Former Chief of Staff Implores the Church to Boldly Pray and Step Out in Faith

When Mark Meadows served as former President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, many often commented that he “had Trump’s ear.” In other words, Meadows always spoke to “an audience of one,” meaning Trump.

But Meadows, who now serves as a tireless worker at the Conservative Partnership Institute—a conservative action think tank—insists that it was not Trump’s attention he was constantly trying to capture during his stint in the president’s administration. Because 2020 turned out to be one of the worst years in American history due to the COVID pandemic, it was another commander-in-chief’s presence in which Meadows reveled.

“When I speak to an ‘audience of one’ Meadows said, people get the ‘audience of one’ wrong. The ‘one’ I speak to is the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is for Him I live and for His glory I speak.”

Meadows’ faith in and relationship with Christ sustained him through a tumultuous 2020, and it continues to sustain him now. At a time when many have lost hope as our nation seems to be slipping from its, foundation, he maintains that God is still in control and reminds believers that, throughout history, in spite of difficult times, God still answers prayer.

In a clarion call, Meadows implores all believers, and in particular young people who serve the Lord, to “trust our heavenly Father, answer His call for your life and remember that God calls us to engage in supporting the cause of Christ at all levels of government. From the local level to the highest—we are called to serve Christ.”

Meadows, author of the book The Chief’s Chief, also believes that as dark as it may seem for America right now, there is hope on the horizon. Spiritual awakenings are always preceded by crisis, he says.

In the year since the Biden administration took over the country’s leadership, Meadows says it is obvious that many things have gone wrong, including the continual stigma of the coronavirus pandemic, which Biden said he and his administration would extinguish. In a recent conversation with Trump, Meadows says the former president commented, “Mark, I don’t know that America can survive another three years of Biden.”

Meadows says Trump’s opponents continually malign him unjustly and he is misunderstood by a great segment of the population.

“I don’t think people realize the kind of man Donald J. Trump is,” Meadows says. “I was with him daily, and there has been nobody in history who so strongly supported our values—from our support of Israel to religious freedom to literally all the core values we as believers hold so dear. He didn’t just hold values, but he actively fought to defend them. I don’t know anyone who loves his country as much as Donald J. Trump does.”

And while it is not certain that Trump will run for president of the United States again in 2024, Meadows says those who believe in freedom and the greatness of our country must pray for God’s sovereignty because “God still answers prayer,” and He is “still on the throne.”

“Please pray for President Trump, for the protection against constant attacks, for his family and for discernment for him going forward,” he adds. “I ask that people pray for me for humility, direction and that God would continue to use me for his kingdom.”

“Pray for us—pray for the president, pray for me, pray for CPI and the many who love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. The most important thing we can all do for our country at this pivotal moment is to pray for our beloved America that God will not only restore all that has been lost, but restore us to an even greater place.” {eoa}
