Sarah Silverman Tweets Jesus Was ‘Gender Fluid’

As the world celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas, comedian Sarah Silverman tweeted to her more than 7.5 million followers on Christmas that Jesus was “gender fluid,” The Christian Post reported.

“MERRY CHRISTMAS! Jesus was gender fluid!” the 45-year-old celebrity tweeted on Friday.

The tweet generated considerable controversy.

“Socialist Sarah Silverman Tweets the Unthinkable About Jesus…. On CHRISTMAS,” wrote Young Conservatives in a tweet.

“@SarahKSilverman Why don’t you just say I hate all Christians? That’s got to be the edgiest of all, and that’s your whole reason for being,” wrote Alan Randall.

The comment by Silverman, who considers herself non-religious but not anti-Christian, follows an incident in January when Silverman invoked Christ in “a profanity-laced, pro-abortion skit” designed to rally support for a national pride day for women.

In January 2014, Silverman and others performed at an abortion fundraiser with a profanity-laced name to raise funds for abortion groups in Texas.

“They’re focusing on the bits and parts of the woman, and chosen to devalue the great worth of a woman in her entirety,” Melissa Conway, director of external relations at Texas Right to Life, told The Christian Post. “It’s unfortunate that the funds are being used in a threat to baby girls’ lives as well. They glorify the right to choose the ending of one life for the benefit of the other.”

In a Charisma News column, Larry Tomczak lamented how distasteful comedy has become in modern times.

“While things were not perfect as many of us were growing up, Judeo-Christian foundations undergirded our schools, government and most of the entertainment industry,” Tomczak wrote. “Television comedies like Cosby, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, My Three Sons and Brady Bunch abounded. Comedians like Bob Hope, Steve Allen, Jack Benny, Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett acted funny and told jokes that 99% of the time were clean.

“Standards have now eroded drastically, and we are living in an increasingly secularist, post-Christian culture. Without biblical restraints, values disappear, and eventually we are left with decadence.”
