Samuel Rodriguez’s NHCLC Launches Campaign to Protect Americans’ Right to Preach

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) is partnering with some of America’s leading denominations, ministries and universities to protect the right to preach of pastors and people of faith in the U.S.

Launched in November, the Free to Preach is a sweeping campaign that will activate the Latino community to “push back darkness and protect the right to preach in Jesus’ name,” said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of NHCLC.

NHCLC will host a 30-city tour of Free to Preach events in major cities across America to engage its chapters in an unprecedented effort to both raise awareness and prophetically call the Christian community to action. The tour includes Dallas, Houston and San Antonio in Texas; Orlando and Miami in Florida; Phoenix, Nevada, and cities in New Mexico, North Carolina, Michigan, Ohio and Puerto Rico. The tour will end with a massive event at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

Also part of the campaign is an aggressive multimedia messaging strategy to reach Hispanics of every generation. NHCLC is leveraging social media platforms, television programs and mediums such as blogs and podcasts to educate Hispanics about the importance of religious liberty and to call them to pray and get involved in their communities to protect their right to preach.

“In essence, we want Christians to build a firewall against secular totalitarianism and moral relativism by protecting and defending religious liberty with truth and love in the name of Jesus,” Rev. Rodriguez said.

The Free to Preach campaign is made possible through a collaborative effort of influential Christian organizations and institutions. These are: Alliance Defending Freedom, Assemblies of God, Church of God, The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, William Jessup University, North Central University and Daystar TV.

“Of all the fundamental rights guaranteed in our Constitution, religious liberty is the foundational freedom, and it comes from the Creator himself and not from government. William Jessup University is proud to join with NHCLC and proclaim the Freedom to Preach. We call on churches and pastors across the leaders to live, love and lead like Jesus—full of grace and truth,” said Dr. John Jackson, president of William Jessup University.

Some of the largest churches in America also have signed up to be part of the campaign. Among them are Cornerstone Nashville, Gateway Church, Church of the Highlands, Bayside Church and Christ Fellowship Church.

With more than 42,000 evangelical churches across the U.S. and Latin America, the NHCLC represents an engaged and increasingly more influential segment of the largest ethnic minority in the U.S. Hispanic evangelicals are the fastest-growing group within America’s evangelical community, and are playing a key role in local and national elections.
