Pastor John Gray Released: ‘The Devil Wanted Me to Die in This Bed’
Relentless Church Pastor John Gray and his wife, Aventer, posted a simple photo on Instagram. The caption: “The devil wanted me to die in this bed. But because of God, this bed is now a testimony.”
Gray, 49, who had been in the hospital for the past couple of weeks for a life-threatening Saddle Pulmonary Embolism in the pulmonary artery and more lung blood clots, was released from an Atlanta hospital on Tuesday, and will continue his recovery at home in Greeneville, South Carolina.
Gray was admitted to a hospital in Alabama on July 7 and was in critical care before moving to the hospital in Atlanta last week.
Aventer Gray posted on Instagram Psalms 103:1-3, which reads: “Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…”
Her post, on behalf of her husband, continued:
“THIS BED! This bed was supposed to be my end. Pull the sheet over my head and wheel me to the morgue. This bed, where I entertained my deepest fears, regrets, triumphs, was supposed to be the period—a life end, but unfinished. But GOD. Glory! Hallelujah!
“Because of God, this bed is now a testimony. As I wave goodbye to this bed, I say GOD THANK YOU FOR SAVING AND SPARING MY LIFE! Yes, I have a long way to go, but I’m not dead—so that’s a great start.”
Gray went on to give thanks to the team of doctors, nurses and cardiologists at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama, and also to the staff at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Atlanta for his care. And, he thanked everyone for their continued prayers for his health and recovery.
“I say thank you. My family and I are indebted to you for all your love and care … I have no words. Y’all did your diligence. Imaging, testing, checking that monitor that never let me sleep. Lol, but it’s exactly what was needed to preserve my life. Because of prayer and an amazing medical team, I am on course for a COMPLETE recovery!
“So many pastors, leaders and praying people around the world who bombarded heaven—I say thank you! It was GOD ALONE that turned the tide in this battle … I am grateful for every expression. I am getting stronger … I love y’all, and now, since I can’t shout, can y’all help me shout? I’M OUTTTTT!” {eoa}
