Oral Roberts Hospitalized After Fall
Evangelist Oral Roberts has been hospitalized near his California home after falling over the weekend.
According to a statement released Monday, Roberts fell on Saturday and is being treated for broken bones and a slight case of pneumonia. It says he is listed in stable condition.
Roberts, 91, is a veteran healing evangelist and founder of Oral Roberts University (ORU) in Tulsa, Okla.
Late last month Roberts addressed attendees at a funeral service for Tulsa pastor Billy Joe Daugherty by video.
In September, he returned to Tulsa to help inaugurate ORU’s third president, Mark Rutland, nearly two years after his son, Richard Roberts, stepped down from that post amid a financial scandal.
Richard Roberts and his wife, Lindsay, have denied allegations that they used university money to fund vacations, home remodels and other luxuries at a time when ORU was $55 million in debt. Richard Roberts continues to serve as president of Oral Roberts Ministries.
