Miracle Update on Street Preacher Fighting for His Life
An Arizona evangelist, who was shot last month while promoting a church service on the streets of Glendale, has been moved out of the intensive care unit but is still in a “delicate” condition, according to his family. The incident, which occurred on the evening of Nov. 15, has left Hans Schmidt, a 26-year-old outreach director at Victory Chapel First Phoenix Church and father of two small children, fighting for his life.
As the investigation continues, the Glendale Police Department has released surveillance video and is offering a $10,000 reward for information about the shooting. The footage shows Schmidt standing at the street corner, where he fell forward and then got back up to his feet. Shortly after, it was discovered that he had an unexplained wound on his head.
During a press conference in November, Gina Winn, the public information officer for the Glendale Police Department, stated that it is still unknown how Schmidt was shot and if the shooter was in a car or on foot at the time of the incident. It is also unknown if Schmidt was targeted or if it was a random act of violence.
Despite the challenges, Schmidt’s father, Eric, shared that his son was moved out of the intensive care unit and into a long-term care facility within the hospital. Over Thanksgiving, Eric reported that Hans was able to open his eyes.
As the Christian community rallies around the Schmidt family, it is essential to remember the power of prayer and fasting. The Bible tells us that Christians can overcome difficult times through faith in Jesus Christ and the strength He provides.

In Psalm 34:17-19, we are reminded that “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the contrite of spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” This passage highlights the importance of turning to God in times of need and trusting in His ability to provide comfort and strength.
Also, in Philippians 4:13, the apostle Paul writes, “I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me.” This verse serves as a powerful reminder that our strength comes from Jesus, and it is through Him that we can endure and overcome the challenges we face.
As we continue to pray for Hans Schmidt and his family, let us remember the power of prayer and the importance of supporting one another in difficult times. The Bible teaches us that we are called to bear one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2) and to pray for one another (James 5:16).
So be encouraged to join in prayer and fasting for Hans Schmidt and his family, as well as for all those who are enduring a difficult season in life. May the Lord bring healing and comfort to all who need it, and may we continue to stand together as a community of believers, united by faith and love in Jesus Christ.{eoa}
