Marked Driscoll May Soon Return to Pulpit but One Ex-Mars Hill Deacon Is Making Another Harsh Accusation

Former Mars Hill pastor Mark Driscoll may be preparing for a return to church leadership.

Driscoll hasn’t addressed the speculations, other than saying he’s in continual prayer about it, according to the Seattle Times. His public appearances scheduled for around the world have former colleagues believing otherwise.

But is the former pastor ready for a comeback?

“Mark is unrepentant,” former Mars Hill Church deacon Brian Jacobson tells the Seattle Times

Driscoll stepped down from the Mars Hill pulpit last August and resigned in October

As Charisma News previously reported, Driscoll’s fall from grace came after a combination of growing scrutiny of church finances, plagiarism allegations concerning his books and comments he made under an online pseudonym.

At the time of his resignation, several under his leadership still supported him. Mars Hill Shoreline Pastor Steve Tompkins said he still believed Driscoll was qualified for leadership.

“We concluded that Pastor Mark has, at times, been guilty of arrogance, responding to conflict with a quick temper and harsh speech, and leading the staff and elders in a domineering manner. While we believe Mark needs to continue to address these areas in his life and leadership, we do not believe him to be disqualified from pastoral ministry,” Tompkins said

The Mars Hill churches have since dissolved, and the main campus building sold for $9 million.

Driscoll has been continuing his ministry through his website, which provides access to sermons, blogs and Bible studies.
