Lou Engle: God Says California Will Be Pro-Life State
Lou Engle is taking TheCall to Los Angeles on Sept. 1—and he’s calling for 40 days of fasting leading up to the event.
A vision of Lou Engle, who is part of the leadership team at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, Mo., TheCall has gathered hundreds of thousands to stadiums across America for prayer, fasting, repentance and sacrificial worship for 10 years.
“We are going to have a gathering focused on the great Hispanic peoples of California,” said Engle, co-founder of TheCall. “God gave us a word that California would be a pro-life state; that the spotlight was on the Hispanics and they would turn California to be a pro-life state and release a prayer movement that would explode a great outpouring of revival in California.”
Engle believes this is a moment to “seize the day.” From San Diego to Redding, he is calling Hispanic communities and churches to unite in 40 days of prayer and fasting beginning on Friday. He expects thousands—young and old—to gather for what he’s calling TheCall aviva. TheCall aviva is a Hispanic-led prayer movement for revival and the ending of abortion.
One of the distinctions that sets TheCall apart from other Christian gatherings is that there are no band advertisements and no speaker promotions. Engle is out to exalt the Lord and Him alone.
“We are not just looking for a day,” Engle says. “We are looking for a revolution … Let’s shake America for such a time as this.”
