Lou Engle and TheCall Coming to DC This Summer
Organizers of Lou Engle’s prayer movement known as TheCall are expecting hundreds of thousands to come to the nation’s capital this summer for concerted prayer and fasting.
“America is a nation in crisis,” says Engle, decrying the nearly 50 million babies that have been killed through abortion since 1973. “What is coming to America if God brings a day of reckoning? We have to pray for our nation to turn back to God.”
The 12-hour prayer fast taken place on Washington’s National Mall will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. It will be broadcast live worldwide by the GOD TV network.
Engle’s last visit to the capital in 2000 for the TheCall D.C. attracted nearly 400,000 people. Organizers of this summer’s event hope to see 1 million. “Eight years later, the stakes are higher than ever,” says Engle. “But if we call upon God, He will be merciful to us.”
