Images such as this continue to emerge of the devastation from northeastern Japan’s 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami on March 11 that left almost 30,000 people dead or missing, an estimated $310 billion worth of damage and triggered the biggest nuclear crisis in decades. Despite a daunting task of rebuilding, leaders from multiple Christian organizations stress how the tragedy can open doors for a gospel of hope. 


“This is our opportunity,” says Doug Stringer, founder of Somebody Cares. “We can see a nation of very honorable but proud people in a desperate situation receive the love of Christ through God’s people in a very tangible way … and meet the hope of glory because of it.”
