Judge Dismisses Domestic Violence Charges Against BeBe Winans
A Tennessee judge has dismissed a misdemeanor domestic violence charge against gospel singer BeBe Winans.
General Sessions Judge Gloria Dumas dismissed the charge Friday after determining Winans, 47, had seen a counselor as required by prosecutors, according to the Associated Press. The counselor reported that Winans did not need treatment.
Winans had been accused of pushing his ex-wife to the ground Feb. 13 during an argument about their two children. Winans was arrested March 11 and briefly detained before posting a $1,000 bond.
“To be exonerated of all charges shows the power of trusting in God, and is a wonderful Christmas gift for me and my children,” Winans said in a statement Monday.
Winans is a judge on the popular BET TV show Sunday Best and a Grammy Award-winning singer. In October he and sister CeCe released their first album in 15 years, Still.
