How Marilyn Hickey’s Daughter Uses the Story of Moses to Save Lives
She may be the daughter of one of today’s most famous Pentecostal evangelists, but Sarah Bowling is a hero in the faith in her own right through her ministry, Saving Moses.
“Saving Moses kind of goes to the premise of Moses in the Nile River,” says Bowling, who is also Marilyn Hickey’s daughter. “He’s 3 months old, you know, he’s gonna be crocodile food. And he gets rescued and goes on to be kind of a significant figure for the nation of Israel.”
Bowling uses this story to guide her work.
“From the ages of 0-5, we concentrate on the need that is the most urgent and where the care is the least available,” Hickey says. “So the idea is that Moses is about to be eaten by a crocodile, we want to intervene. … Infant mortality is our sweet spot. We do birth aid, we do something called night care, and so we’re aiming for giving babies and toddlers the chance to live when they often do not have it or are about ready to be snuffed out.”
