Grammy-nominated Christian artist Tauren Wells says his son, Kanaan, was filled with the Holy Spirit over the weekend, even speaking in tongues.

The announcement was met with joy across the Spirit-filled community, with prominent pastors and musicians praising God for the baptism.

Kanaan was water baptized earlier in June.

Well this is a Father’s Day I’ll never forget. Kanaan was baptized this morning by his Grandad. We’ve talked about it a lot but we’ve always told him that this was his decision to make when he was ready. A week ago, out of the blue, he said he said he was ready. He was so sincere. I asked him a few questions why he felt it was time and he had obviously thought it out. It’s been obvious to Lorna and I that God has been drawing his heart in close. For our family baptism is about more than merely ‘going public’ with our faith. For us, it is entering into a covenant relationship with God by the invocation of His covenant name, Jesus Christ. Kanaan understands it as a relationship based on a promise that He will always belong to Jesus because he has now taken on His name in baptism. I explained to him that repentance, baptism and the infilling of God’s spirit is us following Jesus in His death on the cross (repentance), burial in the tomb (baptism), and resurrection, (spirit infilling). He is six and he gets it. Now instead of just Wells on the back of his jersey, he wants Wells-Jesus It’s a BEAUTIFUL thing to see and feel. We’ve got 1 down and 2 to go and the other two really need it lol. Happy Father’s Day!! #kanaancrue #baptism @lornabrittany

Wells himself was baptized in the Spirit at 10 years old.

“Yeah, I started going to church when I was 10 years old. My dad kind of made the decision for our family that we were going to start going, which was a fantastic decision,” Wells previously told Charisma. “We started going, and I went to a church camp one summer, got baptized in the Holy Spirit. I got baptized when we got back home. That was really it for me. I found a place I really belonged at the church, and I had a lot of opportunity to grow and discover who I really was in Christ. And that is what has kind of led me in a long path to where I am now.

“I grew up Pentecostal, so we just went down to the altar at church camp and prayed,” Wells said. “It was amazing. That’s like a normal thing that would happen all throughout my life.”
