Franklin Graham: ‘You Must Vote for the Least of the Two Heathens’

Franklin Graham’s Decision America prayer tour rolled into Denver Tuesday.

About 10,000 Christians turned out in the mile-high city to hear why he believes no political party or politician can turn America around.

In a lengthy interview, Graham spoke with CBN News one on one about his cry for America and the nation’s leaders.

He urged those gathered at the tour to live out their faith boldly and pray for the nation and its leaders.

“I want to strongly urge Christians to run for public office at every level, to get out and vote and cast their ballots for candidates who uphold biblical principles,” Graham said.

Just as the biblical prophet Nehemiah cried out to God to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore hope to God’s people, Graham hopes this tour will do the same.

He explained to the crowd how the story of Nehemiah parallels what’s happening in America today. The very steps Nehemiah took should be a model to today, he said.

He is urging Christians to confess the sins of the nation, their personal sins and those of their fathers.

Graham also asked participants to go to the Decision America Tour website and sign the pledge to both God and country.

Sign the pledge here.

The pledge incorporates 1 Corinthians 3:11: “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” as well as 2 Chronicles 7:14, spoken to the nation of Israel.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” 2 Chronicles 7:14 reads.

“America is at a moral tipping point. Our jobs as Christians is to make the impact of Christ felt in every phase of life: religious, social, economic and political,” he said as he asked people to pray the sinner’s prayer with him.

Quoting Zechariah 4:6, Graham reminded Christians gathered in Denver that no one can do anything in his or her own strength, but only by surrendering completely to God and allowing Him to work in them through prayer and His Word.
