Apostle Dr. Yvonne Lee-Wilson, 66, senior pastor of Body of Christ Deliverance Ministries in Chicago, and her husband, Adelbert Wilson, 69, died late Monday night in a tragic hit-and-run after leaving a prayer service at their church, per the Chicago Sun-Times.

“I don’t know if you realize what you did, but you should come forward. You should come forward because you hurt a family, you hurt church members, you hurt people all over … Not only did you hit them, but you ran,” Lee-Wilson’s sister Geena Wilson told ABC7.

The couple’s red SUV was struck with such force that it rolled over and hit a bus shelter, destroying it, authorities said. A damaged white vehicle was also found at the scene, and an investigation is underway.

“I trust and believe God—whoever did this to my parents, they won’t sleep,” Shantina Lee, the couple’s daughter, told Fox 32. But she knows her parents, who would have celebrated their 38th anniversary the day after the crash, would not want her to harbor bitterness.

“My mother forgave them, forgave them. She’s not angry. She’s at peace-—her and my father,” Lee said.

Lee-Wilson, who came from a family of clergy, pastored for more than 25 years at Body of Christ Deliverance Ministries. She “served in the Full Gospel Ministry for over 35 years,” per the church website, which adds, “The woman of God has been charged with a call from the Lord to, teach, train, empower and send individuals forth to advance the Kingdom of God.”

Lee-Wilson was a life coach and the author of books including The Rise and Fall of Women in the Ministry, book and journal, and 365-Days Devotional Journal for Prayers and Intercessors.

In 2013, Alderman Carrie Austin (34th) introduced a resolution in the City Council honoring Lee-Wilson for her many years supporting those in the West Pullman area, per the Sun-Times.

The couple leaves behind two daughters, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

“They’re going to miss her greatly,” Wilson told ABC7. “Many of them that I reached out to, they’re devastated. They have no words.”
