Austin Hatch is a walking miracle, surviving not one, but two plane crashes that took the life of his parents.
Now, ESPN is airing his story in a Sports Center feature the network is calling “a journey of biblical proportions,” as Hatch puts on his basketball jersey for Michigan.
Hatch was critically injured in two separate plane crashes that killed five family members.
“I feel like God has His hand on me,” Hatch told media in November. “I feel like there’s a plan for my life.”
“What he’s gone through so far is miraculous,” Michigan basketball coach John Beilein tells ESPN. “He tells me, ‘Coach, I’ve been so blessed in my life.'”
After recovering from a traumatic brain injury, Hatch is making a name for himself, determined to live his life to the fullest.
“But just because tragic stuff happened to me, my life’s not over. I’ve got all kinds of positive things working in my favor,” Hatch tells the Detroit Free Press. “If you just focus on the negative things, you shouldn’t let that outweigh the positive things in your life.”
