Defrocked Priest Speaks Out Against Vatican Corruption
Read time: 3 minutes 58 seconds
As Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” And the boldness that Fr. Frank Pavone is displaying to the world is right from the pages of the Bible.
Recently, Fr. Pavone found out that the Vatican had sent a letter stating he was defrocked, or removed from the priesthood, by order of the Pope himself.
What crime could Fr. Pavone have committed that would be so heinous to warrant such a measure?
Most notably his unwavering pro-life stance and his support for former President Donald Trump.
Father Pavone may also have been known for a few strongly worded tweets, but nothing that would get him removed from the priesthood with no chance to appeal his case.
Now, Fr. Pavone is speaking out and standing up to the corruption he believes has spread throughout the Catholic church’s leadership.
In a recent interview on Newsmax’s “The Chris Salcedo Show,” Fr. Pavone told his side of the story that has garnered worldwide attention:
“This is about the control that the bishops want to exercise over the pro-life movement and messaging to Catholics because Priests for Life since 1993, under my leadership, has had a profound impact on the Catholic population when it comes to pro-life,” Pavone explained.
Pavone believes that there is a growing, and increasingly powerful, anti-prolife movement within the Vatican who have been against the work Pavone has been doing.
“They also think that I’m too aggressive on abortion,” he said. “Meanwhile we lead the biggest healing ministry in the world for those who have had abortions.”
“We’ve known for 20 years that there are bishops in the Church that hate our work. They’re uncomfortable when I put so much priority on abortion,” Pavone said in an interview with CBN.

“They saw that after I had been doing it about seven or eight years, so at first, they tried to say, ‘You have to go back and do parish work,’ Pavone said to Newsmax. “Well, that didn’t work because I even appealed to the Vatican and I said, ‘Look, this is my vocation. Why shouldn’t a priest be allowed to defend the unborn full-time?’
“So, the second thing they tried to do is discredit the ministry itself,” he continued. “They raised, again, very vague concerns about a decade ago about our finances. Well, we sent them clean audits. The Vatican looked at our finances, they said, ‘Everything is in order.'”
The letter released by the Pope’s representative in America, which Pavone himself had not received but heard about from the Catholic News Agency, stated vaguely why he was being defrocked:
“This action was taken after Father Pavone was found guilty in canonical proceedings of blasphemous communications on social media, and of persistent disobedience of the lawful instructions of his diocesan bishop.” The letter did not list any specific examples.
“They have not been fair; they have not been transparent with this process at all,” Pavone lamented. “It’s been a one-sided narrative. They’ve wanted to do this for many years and I’ve been subject to lies told about me, decisions made one day and then exactly the opposite a week later.”
But even with one of the most powerful non-government organizations against him, Pavone is not stopping his work to save the lives of the unborn.
“We’re going to continue our good pro-life work, our supporters are going to keep supporting us because they’re supporting us because we’re doing the work that some of the bishops should be doing, but they’re not,” he said.
This decision by the Vatican is another in a long line from self-described “Catholics” who are staunchly pro-abortion.
Outgoing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and sitting President Joe Biden are just two examples of those who claim to be faithful Catholics, yet live their lives in complete contrast to the teachings of the Bible.
Meanwhile, the Pope is meeting with and encouraging pro-LGBTQ priests such as Fr. James Martin, while defrocking pro-life, conservative priests like Fr. Pavone.
This move by the leadership of the Catholic church sadly falls in line with the prophecy in the book of Isaiah 5:20 saying, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who exchange darkness for light, and light for darkness; who exchange bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
But workers like Fr. Pavone can take solace in their labor as it obeys Paul’s command in 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” {eoa}
