David Wilkerson’s Wife Passes at 81
Gwen Wilkerson has joined her husband in glory. Wilkerson went home to be with the Lord on July 5.
“She was 81 and went to be with Christ with great peace and even anticipation. She had an amazing resolve and unshakable faith, exemplified throughout her life in her numerous battles with cancer. Her miraculous story was told in her faith-building book, Abiding in His Strength,” Wilkerson’s children, Debbie, Bonnie, Greg and Gary Wilkerson, wrote in a statement.
Wilkerson was married to David Wilkerson for 58 years. David was killed in a head-on collision in April 2011. He was the founder of World Challenge Ministries, and founded Times Square Church in 1987. He also authored more than 30 books, including The Cross and the Switchblade.
“Ever since [Dad passed away] Mom has longed to go to be with Christ in heaven. We are comforted knowing she has entered her reward,” the Wilkerson’s children wrote. “We are grateful to our World Challenge partners for all your prayers. She prayed for you daily and always considered it a great privilege to be part of this ministry.”
