Charismatic Pastor Says the Rapture Is Real and Imminent

Pastor and Bible teacher Jack Hibbs says many believers are not excited about the imminent return of Jesus because they don’t believe in a pre-tribulation rapture. That, he says, is one of the reasons for the prevailing apathy that exists in the church today.

But, Hibbs says, Scripture makes it “absolutely clear” that the rapture will take place. The only questions are: When will it happen, and what will we do to prepare for the coming of Christ for His bride?

“The validity and necessity of the pre-tribulation rapture view of the church can be found in Colossians 3,” said Hibbs, the lead pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in Chino, California. “It says, ‘if you were then raised with Christ, desire those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth. For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life shall appear, then you also shall appear with Him in glory.”

Both Sides Fire Shots as Senate Votes to Move Forward With Impeachment Trial

The Senate convened at 1 p.m. Eastern today for the second impeachment trial of former President Donald J. Trump in a process most outlets say is almost certain to end in acquittal.

But that projected outcome prevented neither Trump’s attorneys nor House managers from pressing hard for the merits of their positions before senators voted 56-44 to continue with the trial. Six Republicans joined all 50 Democratic senators in a vote to move forward.

Trump faces one article of impeachment for “incitement of insurrection” for his conduct leading up to the breach of the Capitol on Jan. 6.

The day’s proceedings began with arguments from each side on the constitutionality of the case. Sen. Jamie Raskin, D-Maryland, lead House Impeachment manager, played a graphic video montageof footage taken during and after the Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol interspersed with scenes from the preceding Trump rally, at which Trump is accused of inciting violence. Other footage included scenes from inside both chambers of Congress.

Michael Brown: Do Not Despise Prophecy

Did you ever wonder why Paul wrote, “Do not despise prophecies,” or as the New International Version translates, “Do not treat prophecies with contempt” (1 Thess. 5:20)? Why would any Christian be tempted to despise prophetic words?

The answer is that prophecy can be obscure. Or confusing. Or complex.

Or it can appear to be inaccurate, only to come to pass differently than we expected or have a different application than we understood. {eoa}
