Carman Admitted to ER After Relapse, Asks for Prayer
Christian entertainer Carman is hoping for a miracle in his struggle with cancer. But he posted some discouraging news on his Facebook page Wednesday night.
“RELAPSE: JUST ADMITTED TO ER,” he wrote. “Today is a bad day. Woke up, got dressed and on my way to the gym then had to pull the car over due to extreme nausea. Have no idea why or where it came from. Had to turn around and go home then everything hit.”
Carman, who was born Carmelo Domenic Licciardello, said over the next few hours he struggled with trying to keep down anything—even water. His temperature was rising, and the doctor said he was dehydrated.
“This is a war I’m fighting on a daily basis and I might be trying too hard. I don’t know. … But as of right now, this is not good. Not good at all.
“Please pray,” he pleaded. “You all are my lifeline to the other side of this horrible journey. We’ve come this far – God can’t allow this testimony of his blessing to stop now. It just can’t happen. I may feel like I’m losing control but God hasn’t.”
After several months of constant colds and fatigue, doctors diagnosed Carman with myeloma in February. Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells, is deadly. Doctors gave him three or four years to live. But Carman, who has recorded 15 gold and platinum albums and videos and has sold more than 10 million records, refuses to go down without an all-out war with the devil.
“I’m going back after the devil. If he wants to come after me, I’m going after him,” Carman said in an exclusive interview with Charisma News in March. “I’ve always had this concept of spiritual warfare. I am going to make a determination that if, in fact, I only have three good years, then I am going to make them count.”
