Are You Buying Into Lucifer’s Lie?

“I can do it myself.”

“Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.”

“I don’t need anyone’s help.”

We often view these statements as part of the great American dream. They may be endemic to our society, but Dr. Randy Ross, CEO of corporate advisory firm Remarkable!, says they’re part of what he calls the “self-help conundrum.” And they go completely against God’s purposes for our lives.

Ross spoke with Dr. Steve Greene on “Greenelines” on the Charisma Podcast Network.

“We all know from Scripture that we were designed and created to live in community,” Ross says. “But … there’s this idea that we can do it on our own.” He calls that do-it-myself philosophy “Luciferianism” because the father of lies created it.

“It’s tracked all the way back to Genesis, where Lucifer, in the form of a serpent, deceived Adam and Eve into believing … they would be able to become like God … apart from a relationship with God.”

Ross adds, “The reality is that we can’t [help ourselves] apart from healthy relationships because relationships catalyze growth.”

Lucifer’s lie, he says, affects both personal and corporate relationships. His new book, Relationomics: Business Powered by Relationships unpacks this concept and how real relationships can enrich every aspect of our lives.
