Like the Ancient Israelites, is America Reaping the Whirlwind?

My heart goes out to the parents and grandparents who have lost children in the Uvalde, Texas, massacre. I pray for God’s peace and presence to be with them in their time of excruciating grief. In seeking answers, it is time that we recognize the moral and spiritual condition of the nation that is making room for such horrible incidents. That is what I seek to do in this article, which is based on Hosea 8:7 (NIV): “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.”

The prophet Hosea gave this warning concerning the erring, idolatrous people of Israel. Hosea is using an agricultural illustration, with the wind representing that which is empty and worthless and the whirlwind representing the destructive consequences of their empty and worthless actions.

Hosea’s words describe what is happening in America today. We had hardly gotten past the horrific murders in Buffalo, New York, before 19 elementary school children and two teachers in the small town of Uvalde were gunned down by an 18-year-old whose motives are yet unknown. Such mass murders and school shootings have become all too common.

Former Reality TV Star Josh Duggar Sentenced to 12 Years in Child Porn Case

Former reality TV star Josh Duggar was sentenced Wednesday to about 12 1/2 years in prison after he was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Prosecutors had asked U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks to give the maximum term of 20 years to Duggar, whose large family was the focus of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting.” They argued in a pre-sentencing court filing that Duggar has a “deep-seated, pervasive and violent sexual interest in children.”

TV station KNWA reported that the judge sentenced Duggar to 151 months in prison.

How the Ephesians 4:11 Ministry Gifts Are Flowing Together as Never Before

Have you ever noticed lately that Ephesians 4:11 ministers are flowing and fellowshipping together more by their function? Pastors are fellowshipping with pastors, evangelists with evangelists, teachers with teachers, apostles with apostles and prophets with prophets. This is healthy, but the mix is even better. We need one another.

Philip the evangelist went down to Samaria, but the apostles at Jerusalem sent Peter and John to go down to help him (Acts 8:14-17).

Prophets and teachers were praying and fasting in Antioch before the Holy Ghost gave them direction to separate two of them for apostolic work (Acts 13:1-3). {eoa}
