BREAKING NEWS: Biden Drops Out of Trump Rematch, Throws Support to Harris
Amid mounting pressure, President Joe Biden announced today that he has decided it is “in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down” in his bid for a second term against former President Donald Trump, subsequently offering his “full support and endorsement” to Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.

The beleaguered president’s announcement came in a public letter posted on social media channels:

Biden, 81, has faced continued criticism from Democratic lawmakers, donors and Hollywood stars since his disastrous June 27 debate performance against Trump followed by other misstatements, including introducing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “Putin” at the recent NATO summit and referring to Harris as “Vice President Trump” in a newsconference.
Despite near-constant calls for his departure from the race, he and his campaign staff have maintained a defiant posture. In fact, his X post immediately prior to the letter announcing he was ending his presidential bid referred to “the most important election of our lifetimes,” adding, “And I will win it.”
