Brave Teen Rushes to Elderly Woman After Car Plunges Into Lake
A 15-year-old was in for the shock of his life this week when he was fishing and suddenly saw a car “flying in the air” and plummeting into the water.
John Agnello told WJBK-TV he was at Lakefront Park in Michigan when the incident unfolded. And rather than stand by in fear or pause, Agnello immediately jumped into gear.

“I’m just fishing, know what I mean?” the teen said. “Nothing crazy. I hear a loud noise, so then I run over there instantly with a neighbor… We both get in there at the same time.”
The duo went into the water and swam to the vehicle, where they found an elderly woman inside. Agnello said she wasn’t talking or giving much of a response.
“We convinced her to get out,” he said, noting he worried someone else might be in the submerged vehicle. “The first thing I thought of in my head … I grabbed the back window, smash it.”
But Agnello didn’t find anyone else inside. During the process, he ended up sustaining some minor cuts that required bandaging — but that didn’t stop him.
“Got a few cuts, not a big deal,” he said. “I couldn’t even feel the cuts.”
