The Holy Spirit Trumps, Trump
Donald Trump often speaks about winning as he pushes forward in his presidential campaign. He continues to say, “America needs to win again. We don’t win anymore.”
We like to win. We cheer for underdogs because we want them to win. We keep score at everything. We want to know who won.
My wife told me that people don’t like to play games with me because I always win. I felt the need to pray for a losing streak. My DNA seems to suggest winning helps my self-esteem.
Leaders don’t last long if they lose a lot. We can lose a client, lose a budget or lose staff. Outcomes matter. If I lose at work, I will be replaced by a winner. Few people seek fellowship with a loser.
Paul said, “To the weak, I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some” (1 Cor. 9:22).
His definition of winning excites me. Eternal life is the big win.
Jesus didn’t teach a parable of winning. He didn’t write the “win-attitudes.” He didn’t debate the Pharisees about winning.
Jesus taught us to love and do the right thing.
Leaders would be wise to focus their team training on doing the right thing. We must be concerned with developing our teams for personal and corporate growth.
We should do more things right today than we did yesterday. The Holy Spirit will lead us to do what is right. Lead us not into temptation … to win at the high cost of righteousness.
We need to teach our teams that winning is not a biblical principle.
We only have victory in Jesus. Mr. Trump, America needs Jesus.

Today’s Scripture
“For whoever is born of God overcomes the world, and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5).
Platform Tip No. 116
John Maxwell knows plenty about building a platform.
Look at what he said, “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”
Platform building requires daily routine.
Routine is easier when we are helping people.
