The Holy Spirit Leads Us Through the Valley of Tragedy

Share:

How do leaders who don’t know God wake up and lead on the morning after the worst mass shooting in the history of America?

What do we have to offer others if we are void of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?

Christian leaders have little time to process such an event. We must gird up our loins and take on the whole armor of God. Perhaps we will have time to mourn later.

For now, we do these things because we serve the Lord:

1. We pray and teach prayer. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. Put down the busyness of the office and rather than manage by walking around … PRAY while walking around. Be more open than normal. Invite people in who need prayer.

Pray specifically. A roaring lion is on the loose. Pray with energy and in faith, believing. This is not a time to back down.

2.This is not a time to judge. Love must conquer hate. The time for correction is not now. This is a time to lead a healing movement.

Speak love and be inclusive.

3. Be a merchant of hope. Be ready to give a reason for the hope that is within you. We must help our people engage their need to mourn. We also need to watch for signs of fear and immobilization.

We must do all we can do to keep the kingdom mission in focus as we recover from the shock of such an event.

Run to the front, leaders.

Pray. Love. Give hope.

In the name of Jesus.

God bless those who mourn.

Today’s Scripture

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Pet. 3:14-15).

Platform Tip No. 123

I recently enjoyed a visit from our grandchildren.

It is amazing to see how a strong-willed 6-year-old can react when he wants something his way.

I watch the plotting. I hear the word crafting. I feel the cries. The child cannot and will not accept anything other that what he wants.

It takes a very strong will to fully develop a platform. There must be firm resolve to create fresh content on a regular basis.

We need the energy of a child to drive and complete the work needed to supply answers to hurting people.

Throw a fit if needed but keep producing.
