How a Former Agnostic and Eastern Philosopher Discovered the Mind of Christ
Although he grew up in a Christian home, Peter Aiello didn’t really discover the Bible until he was 30. For years, his values wandered from agnosticism to Eastern philosophy.
His curiosity about the Bible never wavered, however, and when he dove into it headlong, it transformed his life and his desire to impact others for the kingdom.
“I learned a lot about inner peace from a book about Eastern philosophy, but it when I started reading the Bible, I found a lot of Scripture that just really spoke to me,” Aiello said on a recent episode of “Charisma Connection” on the Charisma Podcast Network. “‘Casting your cares; be anxious for nothing; Thou shall keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusts in Thee; trust in the Lord with all of your heart.’ You can find a great deal of peace in all of the Scriptures and more.
“With the Bible, we don’t have to abandon our intellect and our understanding. We just don’t lean on it like we lean on God and the Holy Spirit. That’s what gives us peace. In the New Testament, we have that extra push that we get from the Holy Spirit to really give us that peace and strength.”
