The Anointing Comes From the Blood of the Cross

The secret behind every person who clearly has the favor and the anointing of the Lord upon them is that none of this power is derived from their own strength.

It comes from the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

In his brand-new feature article of Charisma Magazine Online, Pastor Benny Hinn shares what it means to truly be anointed.

“When we are empowered by the oil of the Holy Spirit, we are freed from the chains of bondage,” Hinn writes.

It is through the power of the blood of Christ that we come to know His Holy Spirit and can experience the true goodness and saving power of God’s presence. When we come to understand the holiness of God, the greatness of the sacrifice He made for us on the cross, then we can experience and appreciate his holiness.

As Hinn explained in a Beyond The Article video discussing the “Mysteries of the Anointing,” the anointing that someone has on their life has nothing to do with them, but it has everything to do with God’s grace and mercy.

“There were times when my spiritual life was really in a bad place,” Hinn says. “I would see the anointing work in such a way I could not figure it out. So, finally, I came to the conclusion the anointing that comes on me when what I preach has nothing to do with my life.”

Hinn shared how the anointing as mentioned in Scripture is about the love and power of the Holy Spirit, as well as a demonstration of consecration unto the Lord which marks what a life of victory looks like.

“It is essential to understand that God anoints what the blood has covered,” Hinn writes. “The anointing of the Holy Spirit follows the blood…I believe the anointing of the Holy Spirit multiplies and expands the benefits of the blood, enabling the believer to live an overcoming, victorious life.”

After accepting Christ and turning from the wicked ways of the world, the Holy Spirit can guide us into a depth of communion with Himself that not only transforms our lives, but fills it and sets us apart to do good works for the Lord. It’s through this constant growth with the Holy Spirit that God’s anointing begins to take shape, forming us into the image of Christ.

“God wants to cover us totally from head to toe with the oil of His Spirit—our thoughts, our sight, our words and our entire lives,” Hinn writes. “Not only do we have the atonement of the blood, but we have the anointing of the Holy Spirit.” {eoa}
