Stephen Strang Warns That Almost Anyone Can Be ‘Canceled’ in This Ungodly Culture
Stephen E. Strang, an award-winning journalist and the founder of Charisma Media, released his new book last month, God and Cancel Culture: Stand Strong Before It’s Too Late. The timing is critical because a pervasive “cancel culture” is infiltrating America and is quick to punish those who don’t follow the popular Leftist “agenda.”
Strang, a widely read author and Christian businessman who wrote God and Donald Trump, as well as other books, tells the shocking story of how his own publishing company, Charisma Media, began to see certain authors get “cancelled” on a large scale. Citing how several books were suddenly pulled off Amazon without any warning, Strang states, “The speed and brazenness of Amazon’s actions took my breath away. Its tactics not only suppressed parts of our message but also have had a financial impact on our authors and our publishing company. Amazon is by far the largest retailer of books. No longer were some of our books competing in the free marketplace of ideas. The marketplace now came with a padlock, and some of our titles were no longer allowed to compete.”
The result of such an attack on free speech is clear.
“Because businesses rely so much on these big platforms,” Strang argues, “they now err on the side of extreme caution, having no idea if they might be next. Better to leave well enough alone, they say. In an odd but effective sort of way, the tech giants have scored another victory for the Left.”
The realities of this type of cancel culture is extremely frightening to many, and Strang is quick to point out previous regimes that have “cancelled” voices that don’t fit into the popular agenda. Referencing Soviet Russia and Communist China as governments who have silenced any thoughts that don’t fit into their propaganda, Strang urges his readers to be wary of such totalitarian government involvement.
Strang states, “We must stand strong and not be intimidated. We must pray—and we must believe God for a great awakening.”
In clear, authoritative prose, Strang’s God and Cancel Culture features compelling interviews with an array of prominent leaders and does the following:
-
documents what is happening in the country right now;
-
shares how believers can respond;
-
explains why Christians can look to the future with hope;
-
helps readers understand that no matter how bad things seem, God always comes through.
Strang also says, “We need to understand that what we’re dealing with today is far more sinister than ‘liberal’ versus ‘conservative.’ We’re seeing the emergence of a uniquely American form of communism: at best, frightening, at worst, murderous—to biblical values, to our way of life, and to individuals it deems ‘less than.'”
God and Cancel Culture will help Christians realize the seriousness of the battle before them and illuminate the present circumstance for the purpose of doing good—to bring hope. It documents what is happening in the country, how believers can respond, and why they can look expectantly to the future. {eoa}
