‘She Gave Her Life’: Mother of 3 Fatally Shot Protecting Her Baby in El Paso Shooting
A young mother of three children died saving her 2-month-old baby in the El Paso massacre. Victim Jordan Anchondo, age 25, was one of the 20 people found dead at the shooting in the Cielo Vista Mall in Texas. The families affected are grieving their losses this week.
Leta Jamrowski, Anchondo’s sister, has the baby in her custody. The child is being treated for broken bones sustained when Anchondo fell over. “From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,” Jamrowski states. “So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones. So he pretty much lived because she gave her life.”
Andre Anchondo, Jordan’s husband, is also missing and believed to have died in the mass shooting as well. “They said that if he were alive, more than likely he would have gotten in contact by now,” Jamrowski said. This crime is senseless and hate-filled. The nation is now praying together and advocating for gun reform.
The suspect behind the shooting is 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, a self-proclaimed white supremacist suspected of carrying out this massacre. Crusius will be charged with capital murder and possibly faces the death penalty. This marks the third mass shooting in America in less than a week. {eoa}
