We need to understand that when we have our focus and our faith in alignment, it is much more difficult for chaos to get a deep hold on our lives.

When we intentionally fix our eyes on Jesus in every situation, our faith is made strong. This means that when the waves come washing over us, we can be assured that Jesus will reach out and grab us.

In Matthew 14 we have the account of Peter walking on the water. The only thing that propelled him to get out of that boat was Jesus.

“Then Peter called to him, ‘Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.’ ‘Yes, come,’ Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on water toward Jesus” (Matt. 14:28-29, NLT).

All around Peter chaos was raging. In the middle of the storm he shifted his focus from the storm to Jesus and walked on water. We know that the moment his gaze shifted back to the storm he began to sink.

Navigating our stormy seasons of life requires a fixed focus on Jesus.

Scripture tells us that as Peter began to sink that Jesus reached out and grabbed him. But that sentence doesn’t give it the emphasis that Scripture does because I left out one word. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him.

We may feel like chaos is drowning us, but we have a faithful God who calls us to focus on Him and walk on water. Furthermore, He will reach out and grab us when we start to go under.

You were not created to drown in chaos. You were created to walk on water, even in the midst of the storm. {eoa}
