If You Liked ‘Jesus Revolution,’ the Next Movie Will Be Heavenly

If you think God has blessed the Christian movie “Jesus Revolution”—and He certainly has with a box-office take of $45 million in less than a month—then you might want to check out the next film from Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company coming out in October.

The movie, titled “Ordinary Angels,” will star Hillary Swank and Alan Ritchson of “Jack Reacher” fame, is a true story “of a struggling hairdresser who single-handedly rallies an entire community to help a widowed father save the life of his critically ill young daughter” a Facebook post from Kingdom Story Company read.

“Ordinary Angels,” which will debut on Oct. 13 and directed by Jon Gunn, tells the remarkable true story of Sharon Steves (Swank), who discovered a renewed sense of purpose in her life when she meets Ed Schmitt (Ritchson), a widower who is working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters.

His youngest daughter is waiting for a liver transplant, and Steves sets her mind to helping the beleaguered family and will “move mountains to do it,” Kingdom Story Company says.

While on the Today Show, Swank said she was drawn to the story “because it’s such a powerful reminder that angels reside everywhere among us.”

The film also stars Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing) and Tamala Jones. The movie was penned by former actress Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig. Jon Erwin and Andrew Erwin, who co-produced “Jesus Revolution,” also co-produced “Ordinary Angels” as well as Roy Lee.

The enemy is also hard at work these days in the film industry. “The Pope’s Exorcist,” riding the coattails of the original The Exorcist from 1973 and its sequels, is scheduled for an April 14 release.

March CM CoverTo counteract the evil, producer David Helling’s new film, “His Only Son,” will debut in theaters on March 31, and for a limited showing. It is the first full-length feature film chronicling one of the most controversial moments in all of Scripture—when the Lord gave Abraham the ultimate test by commanding him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, on the mountain of Moriah.

Rotten Tomatoes says, “Answering age-old questions as to why the Lord would require such a sacrifice, His Only Son profoundly explores mankind’s relationship to God and encourages viewers to turn inward and ask: Can your faith still stand when you are asked to give everything?” {eoa}
