God Is Our ‘OG’: the Extravagant Original Giver
Shortly before his death a year ago, Mylon LeFevre, American Christian rock singer and longtime member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, sowed an extravagant seed offering through the ministry of his friend Kenneth Copeland. LeFevre was near the end of a battle with cancer before his death at age 79 in September 2023.
“He was believing in God for healing,” Copeland recounted at the time, noting the rare and outsized offering in the form of a Bentley luxury car outfitted with a Breitling clock, itself nearly the value of the car. In the words of pastor Greg Locke, “We all need to navigate that sacrificial crossroads along our journey,” and giving, regardless of the size and cost, begins and ends as a heart matter, not a wallet matter.

Believers engaged in God’s kingdom work are stewards of His resources in time, talent and treasure. LeFevre was blessed with talent and in his career, both in longevity and rewards among God’s blessings, enabling him to make such a generous offering near the end of his life.
LeFevre was also a Grammy and Dove Award-winning artist. In 1961, when he was just 17, his song “Without Him” was recorded by Elvis Presley, the single later appearing on Presley’s 1967 Grammy Award-winning album, “How Great Thou Art.”
LeFevre worked with many famous musicians, including Eric Clapton and George Harrison, while his song “Without Him” was recorded by over 100 artists over the decades. In 2005, he was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
