Evangelist Luis Palau Moves to Hospice Care, Declines Further Treatment
Luis Palau’s family announced Monday the great evangelist, diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in December 2017, is receiving hospice care after his failing health took a dramatic turn for the worse.
Dear friends, this is Andrew Palau. You may have heard that Dad is not doing so well. He has been fighting lung cancer…

After Palau spent two weeks in the hospital in January, the doctors admitted him once again Feb. 19. Upon consulting his doctors, Palau was released Feb. 23 to spend whatever time he has left with his family and loved ones.
Palau’s son Andrew expressed his heartfelt thanks to those who have prayed for and encouraged Palau through his fight with cancer.
“Please know that the entire family is so thankful for your encouragement, prayers, and friendship.”
He concluded his update:
“We are all at peace. We serve a good God who loves us beyond compare. Dad is pushing hard to the finish line just to see each of the grandchildren as his final heart’s desire. The Lord knows his actual timing, and Dad keeps reminding us in these last few days, ‘As for God, His way is perfect.'”
The peace of the Lord has prevailed throughout Palau’s health journey, and it is the reminder of eternal life in heaven in Hebrews 7-10 that kept his spirit strengthened over the years.
Called the “Billy Graham of Latin America,” Palau has used his ministry and lived in such a way to encourage others to seek that same peace and eternal salvation he found at a young age.
In an interview he once said, “Trust in the Word of God, and rejoice in Him everyday and find opportunity to share the gospel. If you can walk with God and proclaim the Good News, that’s the greatest legacy.”
